Retail Design – Why Unfilled Shelves Gives Lousy Impression For The Store

Shelving and how products are placed on shelving is an important consideration of retail design. It is recommended to put your best selling and most costly items at eye level.

For some of the products, you will receive special incentives from the product companies when you placed their products in certain shelves. When there are different sizes of the same product, they should be lined up biggest to smallest left to right. This is because people naturally look from left to right.

By placing your bigger items on the left you are more possible to have patrons seize the larger size, which makes you more sales. Unuse space should be minimized as it uses up precious space in your store and does not look good.

The space between shelves should just be a little more than is required for hands to take the product of the shelves. You should always ensure that your shelves are well stocked as this creates an impression of abundance and you will also lose sales if your shelves are empty.
